Be Sure to Find Out if You’re Eligible for $335!

Be Sure to Find Out if You’re Eligible for $335!

In the latest coronavirus relief package passed by the General Assembly and signed by Governor Cooper in September, more than 1 million North Carolina parents will receive a check for $335. These “Extra Credit grants” from the CARES Act will be distributed automatically by December 15, 2020, to parents who claimed a child deduction on their 2019 state taxes, or, if they didn’t earn enough money to file taxes, have filled out an application.

Thursday, October 15, 2020 is the deadline to make sure you’re getting that $335 from the Department of Revenue. The taxpayer (or spouse for joint filing) must have reported on their state income tax form that they were a resident of North Carolina for the entire 2019 calendar year, and had at least one qualifying child.

The law requires an individual to report at least one qualifying child, age 16 or younger at the end of 2019, on their 2019 tax return to receive the $335 automatically. But about 70,000 taxpayers appear to have had a “0” incorrectly reported on line 10a because of a software error.  All taxpayers should review line 10a of Form D-400 of their 2019 tax return as filed to determine if they will receive the grant automatically. If their return had an error, they can file an amended return by the October 15 deadline to receive the Extra Credit grant this fall. More information on how to do that is online at ncdor.gov/extracredit.

October 15 is also the deadline to apply for the Extra Credit grant if you didn’t make enough money in 2019 to file taxes.  You can apply at ncdor.gov/extracredit by submitting the application online, or print and mail it in.

Important Information for October 13-15 – Book Distribution
Published by Regina Hyde on October 12, 2020
.....................................................................................................................................................................................

Tuesday, October 13 will be a remote learning day for students – all work will be asynchronous. There will be no live classes. Wednesday, October 14 will be a student holiday. Our normal schedule will resume on Thursday, October 15. We will be having a book distribution on the parent pick-up/drop off side of the building on Wednesday from 9-10:30 and 1-3 and on Thursday from 1-4. All students will need to pick up Module 2 Wit and Wisdom books. In order to receive Module 2 books, Module 1 books will need to be returned. If you did not receive Module 1 books, you will need to bring proof of address(lease or utility bill) with you and you will be directed by people in the pickup line to the office for address verification. There will be a flyer in the bag for your family to register for a free thermometer. You will also receive an annual health update form which will need to be completed and returned to the school. You may drop the health form off in the meal pick-up line during lunch hours.  We look forward to seeing you.
